If you are a football fan or any sports fan for that matter, you have probably heard of the Miami Football Scandal. According to Yahoo Sports, Nevin Shapiro, a wealthy booster of Miami Athletics, provided the football team with numerous amenities. Some of the perks he offered were gourmet meals, Entire hotel floors filled with prostitutes, rides on his yacht, and even money. He even offered players cash to injure other football players. Many insults are being hurled at Miami President, Donna Shalala for not stepping down from her position. It seems that the same people that were involved in Shapiro’s booster shenanigans are now the same people accusing him of being such a horrible person. So here comes the real question. Should Miami’s Football Program be terminated completely because of such a horrible state it is in now? Should Donna Shalala resign? Should the players involved in the scandal be allowed on the team? There is an answer for all of these questions but of course people will always have different opinions. I think The Miami Football program should still continue. It isn’t fair not only to the players that did nothing wrong , but also to the entire student body who would no longer have a football team to cheer for. Eliminating the football team would only cause more anger and madness. When it comes down the President, she should definitely resign. Clearly something is shady about the whole situation so it seems that she cannot be trusted. In regards to the entire football team, there should be consequences for the players who accepted Shapiro’s irrational handouts. For now the future of Miami Football should remain alive and not be given the Death Penalty.
